Desde Bretaña y tras una demo de 2023 con muy buena acogida, Toxic Rites presentan su primer EP. Este trabajo en vinilo de 7 pulgadas recoge cuatro canciones nuevas que consolidan un estilo influenciado por el anarchopunk británico de los años 80s. La edición, limitada a 330 copias, incluye una portada serigrafiada y doblada, publicada por el sello Symphony of Destruction.

Grabado y mezclado por Jacky Cadiou, miembro de Syndrome 81 o Prisonnier Du Temps, en At the Movies Studio en octubre de 2023, y masterizado por Guillaume Blot en Seeding Waves Studio, el EP incorpora también una portada basada en las pinturas rupestres de la Sierra de San Francisco (México).

Según la revista Maximum RocknRoll, su demo mostraba una base firme en la tradición del anarchopunk, con una ejecución similar a bandas como Conflict o Active Minds: “punk rock directo, con toda la velocidad y agresión intactas”, con letras centradas en preocupaciones sociales, económicas y medioambientales.

Desde el blog Terminal Sound Nuisance, también se destacaron comparaciones con el sonido de Toxic Waste, Stalag 17, Passion Killers o Blood Robots, subrayando que las canciones combinan estructuras simples con ganchos melódicos elaborados, voces cálidas y secciones habladas, además de una dinámica que alterna momentos rápidos con pasajes oscuros de guitarras.

El EP puede escucharse íntegramente en Bandcamp, donde se aprecian tanto la evolución de la banda como su apego a un sonido que rehúye la nostalgia vacía. Las nuevas canciones mantienen la energía y los matices melódicos que ya destacaban en su demo, añadiendo un nivel de producción que realza el carácter de cada tema sin diluir su crudeza.

Toxic Rites: Debut EP revives the sound of 1980s anarchopunk

Hailing from Brittany and following a well-received 2023 demo, Toxic Rites now unveil their debut EP. This 7-inch vinyl release features four new tracks that cement their style, clearly shaped by 1980s British anarchopunk. The edition is limited to 330 hand-numbered copies, with a folded, screen-printed cover, issued by the label Symphony of Destruction.

Recorded and mixed by Jacky Cadiou –Syndrome 81, Prisonnier Du Temps– at At the Movies Studio in October 2023, and mastered by Guillaume Blot at Seeding Waves Studio, the EP also features a cover design inspired by the cave paintings of the Sierra de San Francisco (Mexico).

The Terminal Sound Nuisance blog also drew parallels with the sounds of Toxic Waste, Stalag 17, Passion Killers and Blood Robots, noting that the songs blend simple structures with sharp melodic hooks, warm vocals and spoken passages, moving dynamically between fast-paced bursts and darker, guitar-driven sections.
